The festival is also called as Rakhi Poornima, Nariyal Poornima and Kajari Purnima in different states and is celebrated differently. According to the Hindu division of the day, the best time to tie Rakhi is Aparahna which is late afternoon. If Aparahna is not available, another best time is Pradosh.

As like all festivals, this Raksha Bandhan to involves a traditional bath. Females place a Rakhi, for brother being honoured, on sweets on a plate. A traditional Aarti (with colourfully decorated plate) faithful to their brothers and put a “Tilak” on the brothers’ foreheads. After this formal procedure (ritual), the sisters tie the Rakhi is on their brothers’ wrists and give them sweets, and pray for the well being, Success and achievement of their brothers.
